KENTISBURY PRIMARY SCHOOL
Kentisbury School is a Community Primary School for children aged 4 – 11. It is located within the parish of Kentisbury, situated close to the attractive coastline of North Devon on the edge of the Exmoor National Park.
At Kentisbury School, we aim to provide our children with an outstanding, broad and balanced education which is closely informed by the National Curriculum and based on Christian principles. This enables us to provide our children with excellent care, support and guidance through a stimulating curriculum which engages and motivates them to achieve well.
Kentisbury School has a long history, with earliest records dating back to 1876. The current school building was built in 1929 and over the years the building has been extended and modernised on numerous occasions to meet the needs of the changing education system. The school is blessed with the most stunning grounds which are maximised to the full.
At Kentisbury School we currently cater for 44 children, who are taught in collaboration with children from Parracombe School. This enables us to provide the very best educational opportunities for our children and maximises the benefits of the two unique sites that Kentisbury and Parracombe offer. At Kentisbury we have two classes where our Reception, Key Stage One and Year 3 children from both Kentisbury and Parracombe are taught. At Parracombe we have two further classes where our Year 4, 5 and 6 children are taught. Regardless of which learning base children attend, they are registered to their home school with appropriate transport between the two schools being provided by the federation.
At both Kentisbury and Parracombe our teachers are of the highest calibre with the quality of teaching and learning being consistently good or outstanding at both schools. Each class is supported by at least one full time, highly qualified, experienced and dedicated teaching assistant. We encourage each child to maximise his or her potential and to fully develop their individual aptitudes. We do this through creating a family ethos in which children feel happy, secure and valued. In this way, they learn to be part of a community, appreciating and understanding their own and others’ needs and strengths. We pride ourselves on the fact that our older children are excellent role models for our younger children through their attitudes, excellent behaviour and willingness to take on responsibility.
Across the federation we benefit from having our own Forest School and Governing Body Run Pre-School, both of which are accommodated at Kentisbury where the school grounds lend themselves perfectly to such outstanding provision.
