ELDERBERRIES VISIT ILFRACOMBE

On Monday 4th March, Elderberries (from kentisbury and Parracombe schools) enjoyed a day trip to Ilfracombe.

The sun shone although the wind off the sea had quite a chill! We began by taking in a view overlooking the harbour. From the hillside, we got our first impressions from a distance of Ilfracombe's latest, somewhat controversial, inhabitant: Verity, the Damien Hirst staute now standing tall at the end of the harbour.

Elderberries then got a close up view of the "impressive" but slightly "scary" Verity, were fascinated by the exposed baby inside her tummy, and realised that her feet were about the same size as an Elderberry lying down!

A guided tour of Ilfracombe Aquarium followed, delivered by th knowledgeable and engaging Chris; after lunch we had time to look again at the sea creatures in their tanks.

The day ended with a trip to Bicclescombe Park play area, where much steam was let off! Many thanks to Caroline for driving the minibus, and to Mr Hudspith for organising the day; "it was awesome!"
